Are they quick to forgive and the first to say “I’m sorry,”? Constantly making people smile and laugh? Make you feel encouraged and supported? Are they strong and protective of their loved ones? Do they treat everyone they meet with kindness?
Do you have a really funny or sentimental dating story? Have you been together since high school? Did you write each other letters? Get set up by your friends on a blind date? Or did she ask him out first? How can you give your wedding guests a short + sweet story about your love story – likely there will be people at the wedding that only know the bride or groom and maybe don’t know how you ended up at the altar!
Dedicate a section for the promises that you are making to your partner. It is best to keep it realistic + attainable. you can make them silly, emotional, helpful.
Include jokes/inside jokes that you two share. Include important dates that you want to remember as a part of your story. Include their name, or your most common nickname for them. Include a thank you for something they have taught you, encouraged you to do, or helped you grow in.
It could be goals for your family, for your relationship, for your work/life balance. (example: a family vacation every summer, a date night every week)
Tie in all of your final thoughts and close with an “I love you”
P.S. By no means do you have to include ALL of these I would recommend picking 3-4 that really stick out to you and going all in with those!
Where/when did you first meet?
What was your first impression of them?
When did you realize you were in love with your partner and/or they were “the one?”
What are your favorite memories with your partner?
How has your life changed since your partner has been in it?
What is something you love doing together?
How does your partner inspire you?
What hard times did you two get through together?
Is there a song or a quote that you feel represents your relationship?
What are your inside jokes?
Ask your partner what things they want to include + talk about length & structure. Doing this can help your vows “match” a bit and flow well together.
